We love to save money. Who doesn’t, right? That’s why I love this handy little app that’s simple to use, works well, and helps us save. It’s called ibotta, and it’s free. (I do receive rewards from ibotta for successful referrals.)

It works with many retailers, both online and in-store, with a variety of products. The app includes rebates for groceries, clothing, restaurants, wellness, and more. While I have used the app for a few of other rebates, I mainly use it for the grocery section. Literally, every week.

Here’s what you do. Click here to sign up and get started. You can download the app from this page or search for it in the app store or android marketplace. You can set up your account through the above link, with Facebook, the app or via email.

I’ll walk you through the step-by-step process of how to find a grocery store rebate.

Open the app and click on “Find Rebates.” Next, click on the grocery category, and then select the store you shop at. I do most of my shopping at WinCo Foods, as well as some at Wal-Mart and Costco. I search with the “All” tab, but you can also search inside the specific department you want.

Next, scroll down the page and any rebate that you want just click on the + sign. This will add it to your “my rebate” section. When you’ve finished searching and added all your rebates, head to the “my rebate” link on the bottom of the screen.

I always go here to make sure that all the rebates I’ve selected show up. Once confirmed, you select the “redeem” button and follow the prompts to select the store you purchased the items from.

It will prompt you to take a picture of the receipt, and then confirm what you purchased. Some Items will require you to scan the barcode of the product, while others will just stay selected.

If everything matches up, the rebates will process and the amount will be credited to your Ibotta account. Ibotta will then transfer the money you save to your bank account, which you set up at the beginning of the process.

They do have a $20 minimum to transfer, so it might take a little time for the money to add up before you receive it. But it will come.

I really love this app. It helps us save money, and it’s easy to use. Just take a picture of your receipt, match the rebates and watch the savings add up. So far, I‘ve saved nearly $75, and the total continues to grow. Thanks, ibotta!
